So I came across this photo of Miley Cyrus:
And the first thing I noticed was this AMAZING necklace. So of course, me being from the technologically inclined generation that I'm from, I did a little Google image search and found another photo of her wearing the same necklace:
I WAS IN LOVE. After another search (This was a pretty easy investigation. Not hard at all. My first searches kept yielding the exact results I was looking for. Just call me a professional Google searcher) I found out that the designer is Kirrily Johnston but of course as luck would have it, she has no more of these awesome necklaces. Just these turquoise pieces:
Which were still awesome, but that necklace is what I was looking for.
Since I couldn't seem to find it anywhere, I decided a decent substitution would have to do and plus it kind of reminded me of this Lulu Frost piece from Net-a-Porter:
Fabulous, yes? The lime chrysoprase stones are the PERFECT color for this spring. And that color mixed with gold? SPOT ON. You see the connection to the Miley Cyrus necklace, right? The stones, the long thin dangles? For a while I thought, "Hey. If I can't find the Miley necklace, I really need this necklace. LIKE, NOW."
BUT THEN I HAD AN EPIPHANY. I had something SUPER similar in my own dang necklace drawer (yes, I have one whole drawer for necklaces. Plus another necklace hanging thing, plus some nails in my closet for necklaces, etc etc. Jewelry is EVERYWHERE). This awesome necklace, which I had all along, was EXACTLY what I needed:
I got it at an antique store about a year ago and it was originally shorter (like the Lulu Frost necklace) and fell up on my chest. I wanted it longer, so I redid the chain and made it more along the lines of the length of the Miley necklace. It doesn't have stones, but I think it's more versatile that way. Even without the stones it still has those long slender dangles and the hinged sections. I love it and am so pumped to wear it this spring.
So thanks Miley Cyrus for helping me rediscover this fabulous necklace hiding in my over populated necklace drawer. :)
P.S. Since we are talking about Miley Cyrus, I can't help but share my fave Miley song:
